Bridge maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation has frequently been a reactive activity, initiated only when deterioration threatens the LoS and users’ safety. The objective of this project was to part from that reactive approach by developing a BMS capable of predicting assets deterioration, reduce failures and produce recommendations of interventions and investments. The scope of works of the project included the following activities:

  • Provide and customize a Bridge Management Software and database to host and process all information of the Bridge Management System.
  • Plan and execute Inventory and Condition Assessment inspections for all mayor structures in KeNHA’s road network.
  • Create a digitalized inventory of all major drainage structures assets on KeNHA’s road network, to be accessible from KeNHA’s GIS platform.
  • Determine the current worthiness and value of all assets as per the Condition Assessments.
  • Stablish periodical inspection and maintenance plans (including budgeting) for all assets in KeNHA’s road network.
  • Advice on the optimal intervention for each asset: preventive maintenance vs. rehabilitation vs. disposal/substitution.
