In the early hours of February 1, 2026, a major rockfall occurred in the Desfiladero de los Hocinos, causing the N-232 road to be closed between the towns of Incinillas and Valdenoceda (province of Burgos, Spain).

More than ten limestone blocks weighing 20–30 tons detached from the rock face and, as they fell toward the river, they destroyed the roadway, the parapet, and the protective dynamic barrier, forcing a full closure of traffic in both directions.

INES Ingenieros Consultores, as a specialist in emergency management, is collaborating with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to ensure a rapid response based on geotechnical risk assessment and the design of construction solutions for repairing the damaged infrastructure.

The first result of this work was the reopening of the road to traffic on April 1. Work is currently ongoing on slope stabilization and the expansion of protective systems, aiming to reduce risk and improve safety in the area.
