On January 22, 2020, the torrential rains associated with the storm Gloria disrupted service on the Line 276: Sagrera Junction – Maçanet Massanes caused by the flooding of Tordera River that collapsed the existing bridge at P.K. 059/183. This event prompted an emergency project with the aim of restoring service as soon as possible. After analyzing the root cause of the problem and considering the likelihood of a similar event happening again, the decision was made to replace the current bridge with a new one, reducing the number of spans from 14 to 5, what improves the hydraulic section, and reduces the risk of a dam effect.

The new bridge is a prestressed and reinforced concrete structure, with a length of 221.30 meters distributed across 5 spans with the following spans: 33.15 m + 51 m + 51 m + 51 m + 33.15 m. Since this was an emergency project, the design phase overlapped with the construction phase, taking just 8 months to complete the works and restore the railway service.
