After successfully completing several contracts for EFE for the inspection, structural assessment and repair of their railway bridges in the centre and north areas of Chile, the Client awarded INES a contract to develop a web-based BMS to manage the structures within their railway national network.

The software enables the storage of data related to inventory and condition of assets, and the exploitation of such data to perform budget and investment analysis, forecast future interventions, plan future inspection campaigns, generate automatic reports and perform the whole asset management. The software package also includes a smartphone application for use in android platforms, to allow the data collection in the field. This application has certain forms to be filled in, with pre-defined questions and drop-down responses, and which will be directly linked to the web server for the automatic upload of information.

INES developed the methodology for asset management, designed and implemented the software tool, provided training to the Client staff on field inspections and the tool, and is providing maintenance and support after implementation.
