The article “Rehabilitación del Puente sobre la A-5 en el pk 126+250” en Talavera de la Reina (Toledo)”, co-written by Francisco J. Tobarra, Gonzalo Arias and Alberto de la Torre, has just been published in the magazine Rutas. It is an interesting explanation of a practical case, unfortunately more and more common in our road bridges, about the effects of expansive chemical reactions of arid-alkali type in the concrete used in construction and how to control such effects to avoid a safe demolition of the bridge in case of not intervening in time.
We thank the Subdirección de Conservación and the Demarcación de Castilla La Mancha of the Dirección General de Carreteras del Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible for their constant effort so that this type of interventions are detected and executed in time, for the safety of all and the sustainability of the infrastructures.
