LOCATION Bhutan

The Department of Roads of Bhutan manages approximately 4,000 km of roads and around 1,900 km correspond to main roads, with approximately 300 bridges and other crossing structures.

INES collaborated with the World Bank carrying out the engineering works related to the development of a Road and Bridge Infrastructure Management System for this country.

The contracted works included: an inventory of the country’s roads, bridges, drainage works and earthworks; the development and implementation of a geo-referenced Infrastructure Management System to facilitate the maintenance of the road network; and the elaboration of a maintenance plan. The scope of work covered 1,894 km of main roads.

After successfully completing the above tasks, the World Bank extended the contract with INES, commissioning the development of a maintenance investment plan for the country’s road system, as well as its presentation and defense before the Ministry of Finance of Bhutan.
