MAINTENANCE PLAN (CAPEX) FOR THE BRIDGES OF THE POCAHONTAS PARKWAY CONCESSION IN VIRGINIA, USA, FOR GLOBALVÍA

SERVICE MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING
LOCATION Virginia, EEUU

INES Ingenieros has developed the Maintenance Plan (CAPEX) for the bridges of the Pocahontas Parkway Concession in Virginia (USA), south of the city of Richmond. This concession, established in 2003 for the next 99 years, includes 34 structures of different types (viaducts, overpasses and underpasses, culverts).

The work required to construct the CAPEX curve consisted of:

    • Analysis of all existing documentation for the structures

    • Inventory of the bridges, following the FHWA methodology, with additional information necessary for calculating the curve

    • On-site inspection of the 34 bridges, following the NBI (FHWA) methodology. The condition of the bridges was obtained on the standard FHWA scale

    • Adaptation of recurring maintenance activities to the realities of the structural types, the materials used, the local climate, and existing traffic

    • Construction of the CAPEX curve, which allows for detailed planning of the necessary actions for optimized maintenance

All the information was entered into an i3met® platform specifically designed for Globalvia, providing a bridge condition scale from 0 to 100, in parallel with the FHWA scale obtained directly from the inspections.
