Schools Emergency Intervention

There are two buildings in use as school and high school. The 50’s construction is built using concrete and it is characterized by the use of materials and construction techniques, which do not meet the current durability design requirements. Low cement contents in concrete and insuffi cient coatings using aggregates of marine origin, as well as presence of moisture in soil have caused damage due to corrosion of the reinforcement in the floor beams and supports, which are in some cases irreversible. INES took care of the structural assessment and of designing the necessary reinforcement measures that guarantee the fulfi llment of the current standards.

Such measure required taking into consideration the current use of the existing spaces in order to not aff ect the activities undertaken in both buildings..
